Where Your Money Goes

Did you know that Poway Unified School District is one of the lowest funded K12 school districts in our region?  The limited funding Poway Unified School District receives from the state does not allow us to offer the depth and array of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math) programs and experiences our students deserve and other districts are able to provide.  For that reason, we count on your financial support every year so that all 35,000 students in our District continue to flourish and achieve extraordinary academic results.

With your donation, the PUSD Foundation will continue to fund a variety of programs and experiences that will prepare our students to be world-class learners and to be college-, career-, and life-ready.  These experiences and programs include STEAM-focused support, academic competitions, and leadership development opportunities including:

  • Assist equitable student access to academic and leadership competitions, such as FIRST Robotics, Science Olympiad, CyberPatriot, Future Farmers of America (FFA), Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA)

  • Assist equitable access to career exploration & training for students with disabilities such as with the Abraxas High School Kitchen tABLE program.

  • Cover the cost to host Middle and High School College and Career Fairs within PUSD for all PUSD students

  • Districtwide Professional Development for Teachers to ensure high quality instruction across the school district, regardless of school site budgets

  • Assist equitable access to Junior Achievement experiences to learn finance and business

  • Assist equitable access to STEAM/STEM materials and student experiences

  • Annual recognition event to showcase and celebrate excellence among district teachers, classified staff and volunteers
